Geothermal Power in Schwerin
With a total of 150 invited guests, we are extremely pleased to have been a part of the milestone in the Northern German Heat Transition on the Friday before last (2023-04-28). The lighthouse project in Schwerin enjoyed enormous political and media attention, not least due to the presence of the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who undoubtedly underlined the importance of deep geothermal energy for Germany with the commissioning of the plant.
Since the beginning in 2015, Geothermie Neubrandenburg GmbH has been instrumental in shaping the geothermal heat supply project in Schwerin through all planning phases. With the planning and implementation of the heat pump system there, many other geological reservoirs with lower temperatures can be made economically and technically viable and large parts of the heat demand can be covered regeneratively.
